The ear of Vincent Van Gogh
After a long period of constant invitation Gauguin eventually arrived in Arles in October 1888. The two have worked together throughout the end of October, November and every part of December. the psychiatric asylym located in the town of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, 32 km from Arles. Paul Gauguin visits in Paris and never saw van Gogh in his life – despite the request of Van Gogh to visit him in hospital.
The story of Paul Gauguin does not seem very reliable. In fact, there were at least two of them being first told the painter Emile Bernard immediately after return from Paris who revealed details of their fall, the relationship horrible description of the legacy of van Gogh self harm and slightly different description the central episode of the night.
