Austin Baby, Austin

05/19/2008

We went down to Austin this weekend to see Josh and Laura Wyrtzen and their kids. It was really our first road trip with the girls. I think James and Abbie really hit it off.

We also had the chance to go to the Parade of Homes in Austin and it was ridiculous. These $3M+ homes were located in the hill country overlooking Lake Travis with decked out outdoor living areas and pools. That was really our favorite part. Forget the 8,000 square feet of living space. It’s wasted space anyways. It was the negative edge pools and outdoor fireplaces that drew our attention.

But as we were walking to the pool of this one house, a crowd of people were gathered around this wet asian man. It turns out he had just fallen into the pool. We felt so bad for the guy, but yet at the same time we couldn’t stop laughing.

On Saturday night, we went out for some good barbeque and headed back to the apartment for some Lone Star beer. On Sunday Morning, we went to a park and rode a little train and then came back to the apartment for some lunch.

During lunch, we reminisced of the old days and what we would do for our 30th birthday parties, coming up this fall. We want to make it a party that we will never forget. And I think we have something pretty special in store, if we can make it happen.

Yes, Wax Myrtle may get back together for a special, one night reunion concert. How crazy and fun would that be! Problem is, I don’t know if any of us remember any of the songs. Anybody have a tape?
