Last November, Midlothian passed a law allowing Beer and Wine sales, thanks partly to a letter I wrote to the town Newspaper…or at least I like to think that my logic influenced the religious folks down here.
But anyways, there is a brand new store going up in Midlothian called Kegs & Corks. I read an advertisement for it in the local paper. I checked out the site and called up the owner. He said it would open in ten days or so.
He asked what I drank, and I listed off brews that I like…Chimay, Ommegang, etc. He gladly noted that if he can get it, he’ll bring it in. His goal is to have 900 different beers!
That would be simply amazing for the Dallas/Ft. Worth region, let alone a small town like Midlothian. The beer selection in Dallas has always kind of sucked. There are couple of stores here and there that sell some good stuff, but there’s nothing like what I experienced in Minnesota.
Well, it’s not going to suck much longer. I’m looking forward to having this kind of selection in my own backyard. And Kegs & Corks will become the place to buy beer for the entire Metroplex. I hope this guy follows through and it does well as a business. I’m excited! There’s a lot of stuff I’ve been hoping to try…

Yeah, we have the same problem in Portland. Too many stores with too many varieties of beer. Oh wait, you have the opposite problem – not enough good beer. That should be a great store!

Ah well, as the budget goes, I’ll be happy to buy meself some Lone Stars, and then head over to your place and sit on the deck, watch the game, smoking $2 USA Golds while you smoke your fine cigar…
Haha…no, Bali Shag and papers…the Lone Star stays.
(Beautiful houseplan, by the way.)
