Entertaining

08/23/2007

When looking at new houses, or listening to real estate agents, or watching those TV home and garden shows, the word “entertaining” comes up often in reference to having friends over. And I can’t stand it.

It makes it sound as if there is no interaction, just putting on this big show for your friends to sit down and watch.

We do not “entertain” at our house. We serve. We talk. We interact. We break bread. We hang out.

And that’s all it is. Instead of “entertaining”, we hang out. I’m not your entertainment, just a person desiring interaction for real fellowship.

Sorry it didn’t work out this weekend. Soon, you and the family ought to come on down and I’ll entertain you with a few beers, maybe a rack of lamb, and a bottle of wine, topped off with only the finest of tobacco.
    Cheers!

And a little dance. I want you to entertain me with a dance.
