In the upcoming presidential election, I’ve become very intrigued by Ron Paul. He’s runs as a Republican but is more of a Libertarian. Really, he’s what a Republican used to be like.
Currently he serves in the House, representing the 14th District of Texas. Paul never votes for legislation unless the proposed measure is expressly authorized by the Constitution. He has the most consistent voting record out there and he sticks to his principles. Unlike many political candidates who are bought out by lobbyists and special interests, Paul receives the overwhelming majority of his campaign contributions (92.5% in 2004 and 96.8% in 2006) from individuals.
I’m not big on supporting candidates from the major parties. But Ron is just so different than the rest of them. With my two main issues being the war in Iraq and taxes, I can get behind Ron Paul.
