Cooking

11/08/2005

What to cook? We have always had that dilemma in our household. We never would have the right ingredients. We could never plan an efficient meal plan for the week. So we decided to fix the problem.

We subscribed to a little magazine called “Everyday Food.” At least that is what I think it’s called. But it’s really nice because it gives you five meals a week and has a shopping list at the beginning for all the ingredients you will need to buy for that week. And what’s cool about it is that it uses left over parts for the next day’s meal.

For example, last night’s meal was Salmon with Zucchini and Corn with Salsa. The instructions told us to take half the salsa corn and save it to use in tomorrow nights meal. So this way, meal planning becomes very efficient in that we use everything we cook so that we aren’t just eating the same left overs for the rest of the week. We use the left overs and mix it into a new meal the next night.

In celebration of our new healthy meal plans, I decided to open a bottle of the homebrew. It has been six days since I bottled it, and I couldn’t wait to give it a try. It turned out okay. There is a little after taste to it that isn’t the best tasting, but it is drinkable. And I opened the bottle a week early, so hopefully after another week or so it will be much better. But so far I am pleased and looking forward to brewing the next batch.
