Running

11/02/2005

Last Saturday I ran five miles without stopping in trying to prepare for the upcoming 8 mile Turkey Trot in downtown Dallas on Thanksgiving Day. That afternoon, I went out and bought new running shoes. Last night I tried to run 2.5 miles as fast as I could. I did it in 19 minutes and 38 seconds. And I had to walk twice due to lack of oxygen in the lungs or something which caused cramping. But I was very pleased with the time. I think in a week or so I will easily be able to do 3 miles while keeping a sub 7 minute per mile pace. Now if I can only keep that pace for the whole 8 miles. My goal for the Turkey Trot is to run 8 miles in under an hour. There is no point in setting goals that you can easily achieve…right? But I will be pleased with an hour and ten minutes…a little over 8 minute pace.

I bottled the beer last night. It came out to 34 bottles. It should be ready to go here in two weeks. I am really looking forward to having some homebrew.

And I guess the Wu-Tang Clan are fans of Apple. Speaking of Apple, their stock price hit an all-time high today and is still climbing.

Pretty good Matt. You’re probably running faster than I am right now for 3 miles.

I don’t know if you’ve read up on running, but to get and maintain that sub-7:00 minute pace though, you need to be running Intervals.

Look it up on a running magazine’s webpage or find a good book and it’ll have more details.
